Joey Gets His Pizza | Sharpie on Found Art, 2019
Homeslice Pizza co-owner Jen Strickland asked me to contribute to a wall of art at the entrance of a new location. She had several paintings she’d collected at flea markets to distribute to artists for them to work with. When I saw this pastoral scene, I for some reason had a vision of overlaying it with an image of Joey Ramone, on the Other Side, finally getting the slice of pizza he so desired, yet was denied him, in one of the most joyful and pure movies of all time, Rock & Roll High School.
